My grandmother used to always make these when I was a kid. I would sleep over her house on a Friday night and we would make the dough and let it rise overnight - then wake up Saturday morning and start making them. This is a very time consuming and exhausting project! It took me 7 hours from start to finish!

~Paczki's~
In honor or Fat Tuesday and Paczki Day I decided to make homemade Paczki's! For those of you who dont know what a Paczki is, it is a bismark!
My grandmother used to always make these when I was a kid. I would sleep over her house on a Friday night and we would make the dough and let it rise overnight - then wake up Saturday morning and start making them. This is a very time consuming and exhausting project! It took me 7 hours from start to finish!
After all the ingredients were added it was time to mix the dough. The dough was so touch that I needed someone strong to mix it...............
......that is where Sam came in!
I took over when it was time to roll out the dough although this was no easy task either!
My grandpa Pielach was my teacher! He made them several times with my grandmother so he knew what he was doing. The laptop we needed close by because we were waiting for an email from my mom letting us know she arrived safely in the Philipines! My mom is there for 2 weeks on business and we miss her very much!
My dad was being silly making animal figures with the dough - I think this one was a shark!
Now it was time to cut the dough in round circles with a glass.
After we cut the circles we needed to let them rise for 30 minutes.
Time to put them in the deep fryer:-)
After we pulled them from the deep fryer we let them sit and cool. Although, some people were getting impatient and wanted to eat them right away :-)
Aaahhh...my finished product!

My little Abby decided to test one out her self when I wasnt looking!
Me after a long day of making Paczki's!
Happy Paczki Day everyone!

~Sorry it has been so long!
Sorry it has been a while since my last post. In January I started school again and between that and work and keeping up with everything else I have not had a chance to update my blog!
I can not believe February is already upon us - where has the time gone?
So, what has been going on with me you ask?
Well, as I mentioned above, I started school last month. I never finished college after being diagnosed with leukemia in 1994 and I was only a few classes away from getting my associates degree. I decided last year that I wanted to go back to school to receive that degree and then decide what I would do after that.
Sam's birthday was January 18th. On January 25th we celebrated Sam's birthday along with my Aunt Barb's Birthday. My brother, Rachel and Lana were able to come down so it was really nice to see them. I served a light lunch and then we had cake.
Last weekend I got a Wii which I am really excited about, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet I have been so consumed with homework after work! I am hoping to give it a try this weekend. I am trying to find the Wii Fit but have been unsuccessful so far. I called Target the other day at lunch and they said they had it, but when I called them back to try and put it on hold they said they were all sold out!! I cant believe that it could sell out that fast!
My car has been on the ins and outs - more the outs. A couple weeks ago when it was in the negative digits outside my car would not start after work. A couple guys from work tried to jump it but they were unsuccessful. I let it sit at work for a few days until it got a little warmer outside and then my father had gone with me to try and jump it. Low and behold, he got it started! What would we do without our Dad's? I ended up needing a new battery so I drove it right over to Walmart and had a new battery installed. Since then my car has been great........well, until today that is! When I went to start my car after work it would not start - it was completely dead! We think there might be a loose connection with the battery since it is not doing anything when you try and start it - no lights, no windows, nothing! So, I had it towed from work and should find out the verdict tomorrow!
Well, that is a quick update for now. I will write more later.
Hugs to everyone!
